Resilience is the ability to absorb disturbances while still retaining essential characteristics and functions. Resilience is about understanding our changing world, and taking action to enhance the strength of our communities to cope with environmental, social and economic challenges.
On the neighbourhood level, resilience can manifest itself in a myriad of ways. What does resilience look like for Commercial Drive? How do you envision the neighbourhood evolving to better adapt to adversity, and what practical actions can be taken to enhance the resilience of the community?
On March 26, the Spring 2010 Semester in Dialogue at Simon Fraser University will be hosting a creative and action-oriented dialogue on the resilience of the Commercial Drive neighbourhood.
Our goal as facilitators is to help create a constructive and insightful conversation that ideally culminates in a number of actionable ideas to enhance the resilience of the neighbourhood.
The dialogue will provide a venue for residents, community groups and representatives of local businesses to speak their mind and heart and to explore new and creative ideas for the neighbourhood.
